Hello. Meet me.
It’s time we get back to the basics. Let’s eat real food. Let’s listen to our bodies’. Let’s be kind to ourselves.
My name is Marissa Karp and I am a NYC based registered dietitian nutritionist.
Born and raised in Chicago, IL, I moved to NYC to finish school to become an RD. I have a Bachelors of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Wisconsin and a Masters of Science from New York University.
While completing my dietetic internship at the Bronx VA Hospital, I saw firsthand how a lack of proper nutrition can lead to chronic disease. I then went on to work at Mount Sinai as an inpatient dietitian, where I worked with thousands of patients who were overwhelmed by nutrition. During my time inside hospitals, my interest in using food as prevention grew. My true passion lies in incorporating healthy foods earlier on as a means of avoiding certain diseases & helping guide individuals towards what works best for their body.
My food philosophy is simple & inclusive.
Instead of categorizing foods as “good” or “bad” and spending time talking about foods we shouldn’t eat, I work with my clients to help them eat more real, whole foods that fit their preferences.
I am a firm believer that good nutrition is the key we are all given to unlock the door to our healthiest life.
I take an individualized approach to nutrition counseling, serving my clients by understanding their whole history to then guide them to their desired future. Trained in MB-EAT (mindfulness based eating awareness training), I encourage a mindful approach to food. I help people unlearn food rules engrained from years of dieting and instead relearn how to listen to their bodies. I believe the true key to wellness lies somewhere between the Whole Food’s produce aisle and the line for Ample Hill’s ice cream. After all, life is complicated, but food does not have to be.
