A no-think way to make meat sauce
I am all about making the healthy choice the easy choice. This turkey meat sauce is one of my go-to weeknight staples. I love it over spaghetti squash and zoodles, or even as a topless sandwich filler by putting it on high fiber bread/crackers!
WHAT TO GRAB:
1 lb ground turkey breast
1/2 white onion, chopped
1 cup mushrooms, chopped
1 tbsp garlic, chopped
1 can marinara sauce (no sugar added)
Splash of oil (avocado is what I use)
Dried basil/oregano + salt/pepper to taste
WHat to do:
Add splash of oil and onions to a pot and turn the heat on medium.
Once the onions are slightly translucent, add in the garlic, mushrooms and ground turkey. Use a wooden spoon to break down turkey.
Once the meat mixture is cooked through, add in the sauce + spices and mix well. Turn heat down to medium-low and let the sauce simmer for about 10 minutes.
Enjoy!
